Home Builders In Workforce Development

Home Builders Role In Workforce Development

Workforce development is a critical component of sustaining a thriving construction industry. Your Central Nebraska Home Builders Association (CNBHA) members in collaboration with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Nebraska State Home Builders Association (NSHBA) have played instrumental roles in addressing labor shortages, promoting skilled trades, and ensuring a strong pipeline of professionals entering the field. Their initiatives have empowered individuals, strengthened local economies, and enhanced the overall quality and efficiency of home construction. Through strategic partnerships and collaborations with organizations such as SkillsUSA, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and the American Council for Construction Education to introduce young individuals to careers in residential construction. These partnerships provide hands-on training, mentorship, and career exploration opportunities. In addition, NAHB has developed comprehensive training programs through the Home Builders Institute (HBI), offering pre-apprenticeship certificate training (PACT) and Job Corps programs. These initiatives equip individuals with essential skills to succeed in the construction industry. CNHBA/NSHBA/NAHB also actively advocates for policies that support workforce development, including funding for vocational education and apprenticeship programs. Their efforts have helped secure resources for training programs and increase awareness of career opportunities in construction. NAHB has also launched outreach campaigns such as Careers in Construction Month and Women in Construction initiatives to raise awareness and encourage diverse participation in the industry.
